In an interview with the Japanese gaming magazine Gemaga, Tetsuya Nomura (Final Fantasy 13′s Character Designer and Final Fantasy Versus 13′s Director) gave some new details on two of the Fabula Nova Crystallis titles.

First he talked about the new blond haired character in Final Fantasy 13, who is named “Mr. 33cm.” His name being from his shoe size. Noruma says that his combat style is humourous and that he is a rather wild person.

Also, it was also said that the combat planner will be Toshiro Tsuchida. He is the same person who did the CTB battle system in Final Fantasy X.

It will be possible to get the upper hand on enemies in the field before attacking. Enemies will have other traits outside of battle other than attacking.

The summons in Final Fantasy 13 will have a strong relationship with the characters and they won’t all necessarily be in pairs like Shiva is.

Next Nomura talked about the battle system in Final Fantasy Versus 13. He says that the battle system will be a blend of other Square Enix titles, including the ones found in Kingdom Hearts II and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII.

Depending on what weapon is equipped the player’s POV (point-of-view) will change. For example, a sword will have the POV in third-person and guns would change the POV to first-person.

Nomura also confirmed that airships will make an appearance in Final Fantasy Versus 13, although he didn’t says what roles they would play.

He then went on to say that he wants to finish Final Fantasy Versus 13 first before moving onto the next title in the Kingdom Hearts series. As he feels it is impossible to concentrate on two projects at the same time.

Tetsuya Normua also announced that Final Fantasy Versus 13 would be the last Final Fantasy that he would be directing. He wishes to focus exclusively on the Kingdom Hearts series.
