New Scans, Character
Recent scans from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu have introduced a new character to the Final Fantasy XIII universe, Hope Estheim. The scans reveal Hope to be a cute faced kid, looking in his young teens.
When asked about Hope, the game’s director Motomu Toriyama stated,
“Hope is a delicate kid, one whose youth makes his feelings easily hurt. His mother lent a hand to Snow’s resistance effort in order to protect her son, sacrificing her life for the cause. The way Hope sees it, however, Snow reeled in her mother without a second thought — and now he works alongside Snow while plotting for revenge against him. He acts very hesitant around the party at first, but exactly how he acts upon this desire for revenge will become one of the highlights of the story.”
Despite his charming looks, it seems as if Hope has some sinister intentions.
I just hope (haha, get it?) that they do this kind of character right this time. Hope is going to inevitably be whiny and annoying, but hopefully (wow…again?) he grows as a man and is strong by the end. Vaan was just annoying throughout.
ugh, vaan *shivers*. you would notice that guy was even in the game when he was being too annoying, then 5 seconds later you forget him again.
im keeping my eyes on this Hope guy. i hope (no puns) he’s character turns out great.
It’d be kinda wild if he turns out bad or something with the whole “secretly plotting his revenge” aspect. Either way, I doubt he’ll be in my party. Seems to be the first character in this game I’m not thrilled with, but I’ll hold judgment until it actually comes out.
