Final Fantasy XIII Japanese Release Date Leaked

In a surprising twist of events, the release date for Final Fantasy XIII has been revealed by a not-yet-released Youtube ad. The ad states the game will be released December 17, 2009. That’s this year, folks. Yes, Final Fantasy XIII will be out this year.

Unless there’s a delay, of course.

Seven new Final Fantasy XIII high quality scans have been released via the Famitsu website, from the magazine’s September issue. The screens depict more images of the recently revealed Jill Nabato, as well as some stunning in-game footage with Lighting in action. Yet Another New Character Identified

As the wait for Final Fantasy XIII becomes smaller, the character list gets bigger. In a new batch of scans recently released, a villain we’ve seen before in previous trailers has been given a name and an identity. The character’s name is Jill Nabato, and apparently she’s a hot-tempered Lieutenant Colonel. Boss battle, anyone?

Page Updates

Just a small heads up — the Merchandise and Character pages for Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII are going to be updated sometime this week. We will be adding small excerpts about the various merchandise for the games’ on the Merchandise page, and the Character pages are going to be completely revamped with a new layout and character descriptions by Medomai.

As previously stated, we will also be adding various Final Fantasy XIV pages, including a Classes page, a Races page, and a City-States page. All these pages and more will be decked out with images and information galore.

Look for all this and more over the course of the next week.

New Scans, Character

Recent scans from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu have introduced a new character to the Final Fantasy XIII universe, Hope Estheim. The scans reveal Hope to be a cute faced kid, looking in his young teens.

When asked about Hope, the game’s director Motomu Toriyama stated,

“Hope is a delicate kid, one whose youth makes his feelings easily hurt. His mother lent a hand to Snow’s resistance effort in order to protect her son, sacrificing her life for the cause. The way Hope sees it, however, Snow reeled in her mother without a second thought — and now he works alongside Snow while plotting for revenge against him. He acts very hesitant around the party at first, but exactly how he acts upon this desire for revenge will become one of the highlights of the story.”

Despite his charming looks, it seems as if Hope has some sinister intentions.

Final Fantasy XIV Concept Art

As well as in-game art spectacles, Square Enix has always been known for its amazing concept art. Of course, the art for Final Fantasy XIV is no exception. The first piece of concept art, released on the official site, shows off the obvious community factor of Final Fantasy XIV. The art style for the game is shaping up to be something phenomenal, expect to get a look at even more of it in the coming months.

New Final Fantasy XIV Images

Screens from the recently released Final Fantasy XIV trailer have been revealed. The pre-rendered graphics are top-notch, as to be expected from Square Enix. Unfortunately, no gameplay shots were released, but the gameplay is said to be similar to Final Fantasy’s previous MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI.

Updating Scan Pages

Just a general warning, really. I’m in the process of merging all the scan pages into one covient page, saving loads of space and making for an overall cleaner looking website. However, in the process of merging, I will have to delete the current pages holding the scans for a day or so. Nothing big; they’ll be back up before you know it.

In other news, the new staffers, Shannon and Dyln, are hard at work updating the content pages and compiling new scans from the past two years. Once the renovation is complete, the site will be back up and running at full status. I look forward to it, and I hope you do as well.

Site Issues/Construction

Just a little f.y.i. post.

FF13US was recently ripped offline and then back online due to unfortunate circumstance. In this process, some of the newly updated data was lost. I’ll be working with the site over the next week or so to get all the updated pages back up, and then resume the regular news.

Hopefully the restoration won’t take too long, sorry about the inconvenience.

Feast Your Eyes on the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete Cover Art

Presenting the cover art for the Blu-ray NA release of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete:

The cover features the famous Cloud and the infamous Sephiroth sword to sword, eye to eye. The Blu-ray is set for release in NA on June 2nd. Don’t forget, the movie comes with a sneak peak at Final Fantasy XIII!
