“A fantasy based on reality” is the definition of the world in Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and it shows. Architecture and fashion seemingly taken straight from mob life in modern Italy, the story seems it will follow gangster life of a sort. The Prince, Noctis Lucis Caelum, defends an old kingdom and a Crystal.
Prince Noctis’ home is the last Kingdom which has a Crystal. The Kingdom is so far advanced from the rest of the world that they’ve isolated themselves to better protect against invaders trying to take the Crystal. This fight over the Crystal is said to be the beginning of a new generation.
Stella Nox Fleuret, an ‘unfortunate enemy’ of Prince Noctis is another character seemingly important in this struggle, but so far we have not seen major characters also affiliated with her. Noctis is followed by a crew of men, unnamed so far, but each with their own distinct looks and personalities.
how about for xbox360?…why can’t the verses game be for 360 as well?
final fantasy 13 versus will not be released on the xbox 360 becuase it doesnt have the graphics compatibilities for the game, and the fact that sony wants its own personal version of ffXIII just to piss off 360 buyers.
Final Fantasy XIII isn’t going to be on the Xbox 360 because Square-Enix has a contract with Sony, not Microsoft.
I have watched trailers for both versions. The gun-blades that the female character uses in the trailer for Final Fantasy XIII were very cool, but when I compare Final Fantasy Versus XIII back to back with the normal version, I greatly prefer Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
I love the fact that you’re not the underdog in Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Also, it is a big plus for me that they have rooted some of the looks of Cloud Strife from a previous title, Final Fantasy VII.
Also, this is just a rumor, but I hope it’s true, and maybe somebody else can clue me in on the answer, but I have heard that the battle system being used for this Final Fantasy addition is going to be like the Kingdom Hearts battle system. I think that if it’s true, that would be awesome!
The huge drawback of my hopes for the future battle system is that I heard about the rumor from a friend who is wrong almost all the time, so one can only hope, I guess. Personally, I think it’s about time that you can move your character in and out of a battle without any arena type fighting. Essentially, that is Kingdom Hearts.
What does everybody else think?
I heard it was going to play like KH also. I hope so. It was designed by the creators of KH so we can only hope. I also hope that it doesn’t come out for the 360. I have both systems, but still, if you look at how many good games that are exclusive to the PS3 you’ll find that there aren’t many, especially big name titles. The 360 got DMC4, and RE5 for cryin out loud. I guess it just goes to show that Sony is where it’s at and Microsoft has to take games from them.
I also heard it was going to play alot like KH, and just to clarify microsoft isnt stealing games from the playstation 3 its just become too expensive the the developer to make a game specific to one console they make more money from multiple, so its the devs. choice to put them on 360. cant really blame them and since dlc is the new popular thing for gaming thats where the consoles battle which really sucks but its gotta happen.
My hope is that both versions come out on both consoles not because its gonna piss ppl off but because this looks to be an epic game that ppl will talk about for a long time like FFVII and everyone should have the right to experiance the full story even if they dont link with eachother.

As far as I know, only Noct’s appearance is simmilar to Cloud’s. Tatsuya Nomura stated himself that Noctis will have a character , that wasn’t showed before in any Final Fantasy game.
I hope, it not only will turn to be an epic game, but also it’ll exceed the fame of FF7, so Enix will get a reason to remake 7:’) naaah just day-dreamin’ but nevertheless I’m buying ps3 just because of this game. ^^

I’m really looking forward to this game, to the point that I might sell my soul for this game! lol jp I might end up getting both FFXIII as well as FF Versus XII, seeing as how it seems like there might be two separate stories from them. I may be the only one, but has anyone else noticed that you can purchase FF7 on the Playstation Store for only $9.99? In my opinion that’s PRETTY KICK ASS!! I won’t have to cough up $100 for the game.
Im more interested i this game because I haven’t seen any of the characters giving me stupid facial expression and bad dialog unlike the shit I have seen in 13. at least I can take vs13 seriously.
Does anyone know where to get a PS3 60 Gb? I want to get that version so that I can play PS2 games, or have they made another PS3 that is compatable with other games? I’m just now getting a PSP, I’m getting it for ff crisis core, ff dissidia, and kh birth by sleep. I mean, not many good games in my opinion are coming out anymore. I cannot wait to recieve my PSP dissidia bundle: with FF7 advent children movie, FF dissida, and a 2 Gb mem. card. I already bought the Crisis core game and have played it a few times,, and it’s the best game ever, well at least when it’s not compared to kingdom hearts. BUt I cannot wait until August 25 for when I can go pick it up at the store. If I can’t get a PS3 60 Gb, I guess I’ll get an 80 Gb and keep my PS2.

I haven’t really played the older FF games. I have FF3 and FF6, but I’m thinking about getting FF1 and FF2 for the PSP. I don’t know though. I’d like to get FF7, the original game. Isn’t that on the Playstation store? I think it’s on there for downloading for about $10. BUt I’m not sure
I also have FF10, FF10-2, and FF12. I really like both FF10′s but I absolutely did not like FF 12, I hated the plot and the gameplay

The battle system on FF13 looks awesome, I cannot wait for its release in the U.S. I liked the older versions due to their gameplay. If they truly can make the battle system like that of kingdom hearts I would love the games even more. But changing the gameplay into something like that of FF12 was horrible in my opinion.
hey iam a xbox fan who turned from the playstation, the only game i have ever kept and have taken to my cousins who own a ps2 is FF8 i have owned it for 8 years and ive been waiting for years for another FF to come over to the xbox but yeah i agree the xbox graphics r out of date with the ps3 but that console was to show off the new blue ray for the rich people while the xbox has been for the more common people. I think with the new 720 coming out in the next year or 2 FF versus 8 might come out on it or its new brother. The days are gone when Sony can just make games for themselves and with the current times it looks like it will be forced to share but lets all hope it doesnt go to the Wii. People wonder why Xbox doesn’t share its big names like halo is because microsoft has money sony cant compete with a company like it much like apple can lol. in the end give us those who cant buy the PS console the right to play the best games in the world FF
who agrees with me that the ps3 was to show the next generation of movies and game graphics with the new versions i srsly doubt that 720 or ps4 will reach past $600 AUS dollars which would be around 400-300 US it does explain why the ps3 was so expensive the big gamble of using blu-ray disk

Final fantasy 13 revolves around people trying to escape this place called cacoon, while ff versus is about this guy who is like the last of his family who can use the powers of this crystal. I saw that these games were to suppose to release on 12/31/09 and I’ve seen 2/15/10.

Josh, I fundamentally disagree with everything you’ve said about those games (cc disidia etc etc). Final Fantasy Versus xiii will be the greatest FF in the series since FFX, imo. Theres just something I don’t like about FFxiii, can’t quite put my finger on it… maybe it’s because square enix are leading us on with this stupid lightning name. FFVSxiii is my top priority, by far.

I cannot waitfor kingdom hearts to keep rolling out games. I also cannot wait for FFVS13. That one looks more entertaining. But yet, all of the final fantasy games are straying away from the prat of it being “FANTASY”. I like the older final fantasy games, they had good story plots in my opinion, but I dunno how long square-enix can keep that up.

Well I believe final fantasy Versus 13 is a concept game, by that i mean it using the name ‘ff’ to judge how the public reacts to different plot types and battle systems. First i would like to mention the battle type will be the same as kingdom hearts 3. Second and lastly, i don’t want to spoil it for ya but, when the title Says “versus” its kind of hinting at a duel main character plot, sort of the kind of deal they did with ff8 with squall and the other dude. If they were smart they would make it dynamic and you can choose who to play first and deal with alternate endings, or even better play at the same time and mold your own endings. Ps3 exclusive would be tits! (versus). but ummm not likely
First of all, Kingdom Hearts 3 hasn’t even been announced yet, so how would you know what the gameplay is like? How do you know that there is a duel character plot? I mean, have you played a demo or something? the games haven’t even been released in Japan.
As far as a backwards compatible PS3…only the old 60 gb, old 20 gb, and the ’07 40 gb has the Emo-chip. I need to get a PS3 as well but I’m thinking of waiting till the slims come out which will be late fall or around Christmas time. I read in some article that Sony will be “ruling” the Christmas sales. I’m not sure yet but thankfully my local Gamecrazy has one 40GB that is compatible.
Although I keep checking all sites for the release dates for FFvs13 but can’t find it.
I read somewhere that it might be releasing in Japan when FF13 releases in North America and such. Isn’t that around June 2010?

Hey, what’s the difference between the new PS3 lite and PS3 slim? I’ve heard about both of them coming out on September 1 in the US, and I’d like to know the difference. I did hear that the PS3 slim has 120 GB memory, uses less energy, is some % smaller, 2 usb ports. I haven’t heard anything at all about the PS3 lite, is it the same thing as the Slim, just with a different name?

well, i really like this game and the final fantasy 7, i`m a big fan of final fantasy, but my favourate is final fantasy 10~ i really hope that square enix will think of remaking or continue the final fantasy 10′s story, BUT Yuna and Tidus must remain!! =)

I heard they are degrading the graphics for final fantasy XIII so that the graphics are the same for ps3 and xbox360, cuz xbox360 cant move the same graphics as ps3 and apparently Bill Gates paid a lot to make sure Sony didnt get priviledged with this game since he wants to attract Final Fantasy players to his console, fearing that they may choose ps3 instead only for the graphics. Does anyone know if that’s just a rumour or if it’s true? Cuz If it’s true I think it’s a shame that they put money in degrading a great game instead of just upgrading the xbox360.

The 360 cannot handle the textures due to the smaller medium vs blu-ray. Henceforth the 4 DVD’s of FFXIII, which is sloppy. The PS3 makes for a better model because of it’s tech and this might be the reason why the next installment is for PS3 only.
FFXIII looks good but not that good. I also do feel that the textures were downgraded as well. Look at uncharted 2 for example, the best looking game to date. I honestly think FFXIII would have looked this good if it wasn’t for SE’s money grubbing eyes.
I want to see what the PS3 is capable of, screw the 360.
I have been an owner of both 360 and ps3 and I know the ps3 is capable of more, but I have yet to have seen a difference. I actually sold my ps3 and bought an xbox and I cant say I regreted it. 360 has such a better game selection to me. It gets most games that are pc releases such as valves games half lifes etc…, and its now starting to get the ps3′s big title games, such as devil may cry, resident evil, and now final fantasy 13. And not to mention that a recent leak shows that there is a working version of final fantsy 14 being made for 360 as well. It also has its own titles such as halo, gears, and mass effect. The only thing i liked more about my ps3 is that the ps3 is a more reliable console, I didnt have to worry about getting red rings. But as far as graphics goes I can barely tell a difference between games I owned on ps3 and 360.
Josh, the original metal gear solid 80 gig ps3 is backwards compatible also, I have it. Looking forward to seeing ff versus, I have some high hopes for it.

Haha! Its coming for xbox 360 aswell. If you dont believe me check out the newest update on IGN. Its not 100% sure. But it sounds promising. Its because the xbox 360 version sold 5,5 million copies or somthing.

Wada of Square Enix has not confirmed that Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be on the Xbox 360. He has stated that he has it in *consideration* and that he must discuss it with other staff members.
It has been confirmed by Square-Enix that FF Versus XIII will be PS3 Exclusive. As for the other questions regarding the graphics being different on ps3 and 360 for FFXIII there is a difference and I personally can definately tell. Maybe I just pay entirely too much attention to detail, but I noticed a lot of graphical downgrades in the 360 version. For example, when playing both versions in 1080p HD video on the same screen I was able to see individual strands of hair most noticeably hanging off of snow’s beard. The 360 version shows some of the textures to give that illusion but the hairs stay almost flat on the character models. I also noticed that while the gameplay graphics for the faces and clothing remained almost identical between versions, the detail of the limbs on the 360 were very obviously downgraded from the pS3 textures which keep an almost uniform look of quality over each character’s body. So if Versus’ graphics are anything even remotely close to what I’m expecting, the 360 just can’t handle it. However, even if it could square already announced it is coming out for ps3 only…. EAT IT 360 Faggots!

They should just stick with the PS3 sure its an additional cost to the consumers, but if you think about it all of the FF series came out on sony playstation except for some but as a series using the roman numbers it has only been for the playstation minus the fact XIII for 360 and the FF Agito XIII for the PSP which is still playstation. Plus everyone has known that Versus would be on PS3 only from all the trailers that has stated for almost two years now. in both trailers they had stated that FF XIII will be on both PS3 and 360 while FF versus XIII will be on PS3. Sure they would make more money for both systems, but if you actually punch in the numbers they would make more money for it to be on the PS3 only. Myself i have both systems i got the PS3 just for Versus because i saw the trailer and made sure i had one by the time comes. everyone can always save up money from their paycheck to purchase a PS3. unless your a kid and don’t work. then ask for one for Christmas. Sorry if i am being blunt, but it’s true. so if Square Enix makes it for both systems or not is up to them, but reguardless people will still get FF Versus XIII.

also i was wrong we’ve known about all three games since Square Enix’s E3 2006 Press Conference in Las Angeles on May 8. so its been about 4 years to have gotten a PS3 if its only exclusive for it. Again sorry for being blunt.
